The Meaning to Write
I have written before that I write out of my ignorance and lack of understanding, and that shall forever be the character of my writing. For there is always something I do not know or understand, and I write because I do not know or understand. Then, when I am finished writing, it is the hope that I and some other people have gained deeper knowledge and understanding. So, the reason of why I write is to come from ignorance into knowledge, from foolishness into wisdom, from godlessness into God. The hope is that I would lead others into that change as well.
I would like to tell
you that I have written texts and long essays since years ago. It seems I have
some talent for writing, some natural aptitude or gift for writing things well.
However, I have never been able to transform this writing into something which
is truly useful for others. Many people have praised my writing as “good”, which
I am certainly grateful of and I am thus assured of my competence to write. Yet
I have never encountered a comment where my writing has “changed one’s life.” At
the same time it was never my expectation to make people be changed by my work.
To be enjoyed and cause some sort of intellectual satisfaction within the mind
of others is sufficient for me. As such, the compliment of “good” indicates
that the reader has derived some joy from my work, and so I simply wish to make
as much people as possible to experience that joy.
However, if God wants
to use my writing for a greater purpose of His, I can only surrender into His
Will. The only thing I am doing is write, and hope that people can enjoy my
writing. So when I try to spread my writings, it is in no way to obtain recognition,
it is simply so I can know that my writings have some use to other people, be
it to change their lives or make their day just a little better. I write to
serve my neighbor, it is my form of love of neighbor and thus love of God. I do
not expect my writing to be known by a great audience of many, but simply by a
small community. Yet if God wishes to elevate my work to unknown heights, that
is the Will of God and not my own desire.
