Preparatory Text 7
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. I no longer possess the truth. Therefore, I am resorting back to truth seeking until I die. For I possess no certainty regardings the truth of my God and the Faith. I possess no certainty about the Catholic truths, if they are truly truths, and so I must pack up and be on the run for God and His Truth. I will first record the truths that I do possess in case I suffer memory loss. Now that is done, it is time to begin a reinvestigation into the truths of God and the world.
There are various
questions that needs to be answered. That is whether Christ is God or not, and
whether the Catholic Church is the true Church of Christ or not. For the truth
of Christianity and Catholicism is at stake. Yet I must declare first that my
allegiance to the Church seated in Rome is a matter of supernatural Faith. Therefore,
while my mind may be shaken, my volition remains in alignment with Rome and her
Bishop. As such, I submit to my local bishop, and to the Bishop of Rome, the
Pope, and if I must recant my heretical tendencies, then I shall cease at once.
As such, my Catholic Faith is a matter of presuppositional Faith.
So, if the truth that
I discover leads me to be in opposition against Christ’s Body as established in
Rome, then I pray to God that whatever I discovered was never true in the first
place and that I have been thoroughly mistaken. Yet I must begin with the first
ideas of philosophy first before I can ever delve into historical theology and
truths. Those ideas described in philosophy has been proven once and for all. So
I need only continue through the various ideas of philosophy as presented to me
by God through the world.
Presupposition of
Goodness
What is goodness? Goodness
is the object which causes happiness within a morally aware being. Yet, all
aware beings are moral for even if they are at complete neutrality, relative to
suffering it is happiness and relative to happiness it is suffering, therefore
the moral awareness is necessary for all awareness. The moral being only prescribes
the capacity of possessing moral perceptions, and not necessarily the
orientation of the moral being towards any direction, suffering or happiness,
goodness or evil. Yet for the moral being which exists necessarily possesses
existence, it possesses goodness. Therefore, the moral being which aims towards
evil necessarily aims towards its own self-destruction.
It is the will of God
that all moral beings are to aim for the perfected union between themselves and
God as their supreme goodness. However, that moral beings are directed towards
goodness seems to be something ingrained within their design as God infuses it
upon them. For the logical law of entailment only dictates that whosoever
desires evil desires non-existence and thus their own destruction. However, it
does not dictate that they cannot desire evil. For it is a revealed truth that
all moral beings aim toward goodness by the will of God, then when moral beings
do choose evil, it is never because they truly desire evil, but they see some
sort of goodness in evil, which do exist but in an inferior form to God
Himself.
All action are most
meaningful in relationship to God. All actions must be measured upon the basis
of how they bring the moral being closer or further from God. Therefore there
is only 2 directions upon any action which that action can take. The action
which separates the moral being from God, and the action which unites the moral
being to God. This is the evaluation of any action in the moral standpoint. The
evaluation of the morality of moral beings depend on their choice, that is their
real choice of action, which is determined by both the mental act and the
material act. That being which makes the choice of God is good, and that which
makes the choice of hell is evil.
There is another way
to describe the morality of moral beings, that is whether they do succeed in attaining
goodness, or whether they fail in attaining goodness. They who attain goodness
for themselves are good, and they who fail are evil. A question may arise, whatever
happened to those who made the correct choice but fail in the end? Then there
is a faulty disconnect between the choice and the reality which happens. It is
necessary that they who fail God actually chose to reject God. Now God, possessing
all goodness which is possible, and being infinitely simple, must be all those
goodness, He is therefore Goodness Himself.
Examination of the
Intellect
When the human being perceives
an object, they retain information of that object, either universally or in
particular, and stores it in memory. Memory is simply the capacity of moral
beings to retain what they have perceived. Therefore, the object of perception inhabits
both its regular location and also the memory of the moral being. However,
since the knowledge of moral beings persist as long as they exist, so the
objects of perception are captured within the knowledge of moral beings in a
permanent state. It is written before that the memory of human beings are not
perfect, rather we have a moderate recollection of objects. When brought up
before the intellect, the man perceives a less clear version of the object.
The operation of the
intellect is as follows. The intellect extracts the object brought up from
memory and begins the processing of that object to be turned into another
object of intellect. The end result of the intellectual object is then made real
outside of the intellect and is used as basis of an action. Yet sometimes the
perception of the intellectual object is itself the goal of the intellectual
act, and even so acts of the intellect remain real actions. Any operation of
the intellect is often called thinking. This results in the perception of
thoughts, which are really moderate perception of the objects retained, even
when the objects may have perished in the outside world.
Examination on the Right
Way of Thinking
Whether the right way
of thinking exists or not. What is the right way of thinking? I hereby
interpret the right way of thinking as the way of thinking which is good. Now,
we have ascertained that all actions are good in reference to God. Therefore, the
right way of thinking, or precisely the correct intellectual act is the
thinking in reference to God. The question is then how do we think in such a
way that we are made closer to God? There are 2 ways, first we think of God
Himself and that thinking of God becomes the end goal. The second way is we
think of an extramental action which leads us to God, and so we use that
thinking as the basis of a good action.
Now in so far
philosophy is about the study of the right way of thinking, it is then the question
of how do we think about God or for God. So philosophy is the intellectual
activity of determining the correct thought of God (orthodoxy) and the correct activity
of God (orthopraxis). This is the only true definition of philosophy as all
other forms of philosophy break away from God and so is automatically evil as
they voluntarily reject God. The only correct philosophy is the philosophy of
God, any other philosophy is rejected by virtue of the truth of God.
Examination on the Relationship
between Philosophy and Science
As philosophy is chiefly
the study of God and the Way to God, then there is a rightly ordered form of
the handmaiden of philosophy and that is science. The role of science is simply
to inform us on the nature of this world relative to itself and its components
such that we understand how to rightly order this world towards God. For our
actions concern ourselves and other humans such that we ought to understand the
world to be able to properly order our actions to God. By understanding the
good state of man from a scientific perspective, that is the precision of
goodness, we may aim to reach that good state in reference to God.
Examination on the Significance
of Philosophy
As philosophy is the
study of God and the Way to God, then it is properly said that philosophy is highly
significant for all man to study. For it is the study of their Goodness and the
Way to said Goodness, that is God. In theistic ethics, the word “God” and the
word “Goodness” is interchangeable. So it is important for man to study what
they are aiming for and how to reach what they are aiming for. For man is required
to possess awareness of God in order to reach God. Without that awareness, they
shall never be able to reach what they desire of.
Examination on Argumentation
The chief method of
philosophy is by argument. When we study God and the Way to God, we must
understand the reasons of the truths of God. Each belief or piece of knowledge
is grounded in either another belief or in a fundamental source of justification
as to be our own awareness. Within an argument, the belief being produced is
called a conclusion, the beliefs producing the conclusion are called premises. A
conclusion is true if 2 conditions are met, the premises are true and that the order
of relationships between the premises are correct such that they necessitate
the truth of the conclusion.
