Examen 1 February 2023
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. I would like to open this examen with a reform of the examen system. In the past days, I have only done the examen by recollecting the events. Yet now I wish to deepen my reflections of my experiences. So this is how the examen shall proceed. First there will be a prayer, then there shall be the writing of the examen. The examen consists in these things, a recollection of what God has done for me, a recollection of what I have done for God, and a recollection of what I have done against God. For the examen is meant to not only be a reflection of events in a secular way, but as a reflection of life centered upon God.
The prayer itself is
meant to ask God to guide us in this examen. Now the prayer is done, let us
begin. Today the Lord has given me life, He has given me the graces such that I
may wake up, eat, take a shower, brush my teeth, buy food even, take naps, pray,
write, play Minecraft, investigate the cat, and finally write this examen. I
praise and thank Him for all of these graces. In response to these, I attempted
to write as He moves me, I played Minecraft, and I lived with some work
dedicated to Him. Yet I still failed in prayer, I failed in maintaining my
wakefulness, I failed in physical exercise. I failed in programming. For I have
experienced a pain which inhibits me from working properly. I pray to God that
I can fulfill my programming hours and my writing hours tomorrow on, and also
pray more according to what I have established. Glory be to the Father, and to
the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever
shall be, world without end, amen.
