Commentary on My Catholic Faith: The Perfections of God
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. The eternity of God refers to the fact that God has no beginning or end. When we pray the Glory be, the beginning refers to creation, but it does not imply that there is a beginning to God. Eternity also refers to immutability which is derived from infinity and simplicity. The essence of goodness is called love, thus God being Goodness is Love. The catechism says “Love is part of His nature”, but perhaps it is better to say that Love is His nature.
It is revealed to us
the precise reason of God creating, that is out of His nature of goodness and
love. God is Knowledge, therefore He not only possess knowledge of everything,
He is the knowledge of everything. It is revealed to us that there is a last
day and that on that last day there will be a revelation of all things to
mankind, that is precisely everything everyone does shall be revealed to
everyone. God being Existence Himself points to God being everywhere or
all-present. For He is not bound by space and time. It is said that all
creation exists in Him as thought exists in the mind. Though He is everywhere,
He is still invisible, and actually it is precisely because He is everywhere
that He is invisible.
