Natural Revelation of Existence
Glory be to the
Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is
now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. The Natural Revelation
concerning the relationship between awareness and existence has been completed.
Now we focus on the exact nature of existence. I will address 2 problems, the
problem of existence as the traditional philosophy understands it, and the
problem of existence as understood from the Natural Revelation that God has given
us.
In conventional or
traditional philosophy, there are things which exist and things which does not
exist. This presupposes that for things with a beginning, there is a time where
that thing does not have existence. Now this understanding of existence is
based on materialism, and not theism. Strangely, theistic philosophy subscribes
partially to that understanding of existence, that there is a beginning in existence,
and then there is an existence without any beginning, but that is a different
issue. The problem with this understanding of existence is it is wholly
presuppositional and arbitrary, without any clear proof or evidence.
I will present an
alternative understanding of existence based on the Natural Revelation of God. This
alternative understanding is based on the nature of beginnings in an existence.
Since the most certain truth we have is awareness, we shall use that truth.
When a particular awareness begins, we say that before it begins, the awareness
does not exist. Yet this is the problem, if something has no existence before
it begins, how can it begin to exist in the first place? Instead, the existence
begins relative to us, and precedes our awareness in essential existence.
If something has a
beginning, it is necessary that it has a reason for beginning. Forget low level
causes, but look to the highest level of reality. If something has a beginning,
it means there is no limitation to its existence, its existence is allowed within
reality. Now, if its existence is allowed, then its existence must have been contained
somewhere within reality before it enters our reality. If its existence is not
allowed, or never there to begin with, then it can never enter our awareness. It
is the precise fact that the object is contained “somewhere” that points to its
eternal existence.
Can the object end
then? It seems absurd, but there is no actual law which is against that.
However, what does it mean for an object to end? We know that the ultimate
existence of an object is within the allowance and limitations of reality. Now
since that existence of an object is involved with the entire time that object is
involved with other objects, then if the object truly ends, then its ending is
eternal. It will affect the entirety of reality which has a relationship with
that object. Yet, here is the problem. Reality “remembers” that the object once
existed in it. The fact that there was a period of existence where the object
exists cannot be erased, the truth cannot change. No matter how much the object
is destroyed or ended, the truth remains.
What this tells us is
that objects fundamentally have no beginning or end. Then would this not contradict
the existence of change? No it does not. In fact, it explains and clarifies the
meaning of change. Change is a matter of awareness, not existence. However, we
can say that there is a mode or way or form of existence which does begin and
end, this is what we call actual existence. However, actual existence is not
the ultimate existence of any object. The ultimate existence of any object is
that eternal existence each object has, also known as essential existence as it
is the existence of objects in their essence. So we know that existence is
eternal in their essence.
What else can be know
about the existential nature of objects? So far, I have no further ideas about existence.
However, we can summarize that there are 2 forms of existence, that is
essential and actual existence. Actual existence can begin and end, but
essential existence has no beginning or end. Actual existence is existence
within relative awareness, while essential existence is the higher and ultimate
form of existence of objects within reality itself, independent of awareness. It
can be said that actual existence is simply finite centers of awareness
navigating through the essential existence in a finite manner, as opposed to
infinite awareness, which shall be discussed in the next writing. Glory be to
the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen.
