Selfishness of Writing
May this work be a channel for the graces of the Holy Spirit to you. The works I have made are in a sense for the sake of causing joy and hopefully leading people into God, but they are also in another sense for my selfish reasons. For my work is intended to be primarily a way to increase and record my understanding of various things. As you write down various topics, you are constantly reminded of these ideas and thus it leads you to have a better memory and understanding of the ideas that you are trying to comprehend. This is my first reason for writing, but it is not the most important reason I am writing.
In the beginning, I
wish to put myself down by claiming that I am not sincere in wanting to write
for others, and that I am only writing what I want to write. Yet the Holy
Spirit planted in me an understanding that such claim is simply false. I am
indeed sincere in wanting to help others with my writing and let them help me
so we can develop each other’s understanding of this world and all things in
it, including God and ourselves. As such, even when I think I am being selfish,
in the end I am still doing something for the betterment of the world, even if
it is actually not a great act or a great betterment of the world. May the Holy
Spirit be glorified through this work now and forever.
