Commentary on My Catholic Faith: Existence of God
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. There are 3 ways of knowing God’s existence, by the existence of the world, the sufficient reason of the world, and the testimony of our conscience. The world has a beginning, but the cause of that beginning must itself have no beginning, and that cause is God. The universe is well ordered and harmonious, it is actualized by sufficient reason by God Himself. The testimony of our conscience recognizes truth and righteousness and condemns falsehood and wrongfulness. From there it can be reasoned that there is an objective Truth and Moral Standard, that is God alone. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen.
