Transition to Catholic Studies
May this work be a channel of the grace of God to you. At this point I feel some tiredness in writing about the existence of Existence that is God. For I have attained sufficient reasoning on this matter and that I do not wish to repeat the same problem over and over again. I am clearly not that competent in proving the idea of God in a most sublime way, and there are so many people much more competent in proving the idea of God. For me, I recognize that while the perfect argument for God exists within God, I may not be able to reach it within this range of time. Instead I resolve my problem of God by Faith, what is Faith?
Faith is reasonable
trust, it is trust in God and all of His Truth based on reason. The reasoning is
not necessarily perfect, but sufficient to compel us to have Faith in God. Faith
is then an act of will to trust in God and His Word. Once we have obtained
sufficient reasoning, we can then make a decision, an act of the will, to trust
in God. However, Faith as a pure act of trust is one that requires an upright
heart. This is a difficult statement to define precisely, but it may be
translated as having a good orientation of the soul. If one is already
predisposed to evil, then it is difficult to recognize Truth, God, and have
trust in Him. Therefore, rationality is not the sole determinant of Faith,
instead the entire being of a person determines Faith.
Then where will I go
now after surrendering in God completely? My writings will continue but it will
not be about proving God anymore. It will instead presume the truth of God’s
existence, the existence of Existence, and then study the original Faith which
God gave to humanity and that is the Catholic Faith. I will proceed studying
the Catholic Faith in this manner, I will read some fundamental books and
resources on Catholicism taken from the discord servers, My Catholic Faith, the
Catechism of the Catholic Church, and finally Sacred Scripture. Once my Catholic
studies are completed, I may begin research on other things.
So, in order to begin
a transition towards the new theme of writings, that is Catholic Studies, I
shall write about the fundamental attributes of God as I understand Him. The fundamental
attribute of God is Divine Simplicity, that roots in God’s Essence being His
Existence alone. Therefore, God is not this or that, but He simply Is. Then we
reason that God is Infinite in a precise sense of the word. He is Pure
Existence. The other classic attributes of God flow out from the principle of
Divine Simplicity, such as omniscience, omnibenevolence, and omnipotence. He is
also immaterial, eternal, and thus omnipresent in a way. It is important that
these labels and attributes are in our own mind, not in reality. In reality,
there is also Existence, that we give the name God. That is all. May this work
bring further glory to God.
